Praise On The Mountain

Saturday was Praise On The Mountain at Six Flags in Valencia, California which is an annual concert sponsored by the Western District Youth Department. The venue seats nearly 3500 people, and long lines form early to get a seat close to the stage. Featured performers were the Merced Choir, Holy Hands of Tulare, the WAY Quartet and WAY Choir. Opening with the "Star Spangled Banner," Merced Sanctuary Choir displayed talent superior to any I have ever seen. Their band was tight, the harmony, diction, style of the vocals superb, and the energy of the anointing was strong. WAY Quartet was missing one of their quartet, but the director of WAY Choir stepped in and filled in the blank. Of course, everyone did a fantastic job.

This was my first time to take Bryn and she had her first roller coaster ride. If you look real close, you can see a speck of flying, red hair in the 4th car. (Click on photos to enlarge.) She also met some characters including Porky and Petunia. Blake, now tall enough to ride the big rides, disappeared with friends and I didn't see him nearly all day. When the concert was over, Blake and Bryn were ready to get to the car, put on their p.j.'s and fall asleep while we drove the two hours to home. Bright and early the next morning, Bryn awoke and said, "Mommy, are we going to Magic Mountain today?" I think we will wait until next year. :)

  1. Thanks for sharing the pictures. I am glad that you had a great time. I can't believe Bryn rode her first roller coaster! She is growing up too fast. :-)

  2. We've never been to Praise On The Mountain before.(mostly because of the distance) We went to Praise On The Bay a couple of times, but that event hasn't happened for a couple of years. Looks like everyone had a good time.

  5. Sounds like a good time was had by all! The Merced Sanctuary Choir is awesome. Check out some of their songs recorded live and posted on youtube.com!!! How exciting for WAY Choir to be part of this event! I am sure they did an awesome job!!! Too bad I don't see my cousin Kendra in the alto section but I am sure the trip from Sacramento area was too much (especially since she just got back from Youth Congress last month)

Way to go Bryn!!! Next time, it will be the Revolution ride!!! LOL

  8. Debbie - I wish you could have seen Bryn. She was so excited!

Carol - POTM is a much larger venue than Praise On The Bay which creates so much excitement and energy. It really was a good concert.

Cheri - thanks for dropping by.

Anonymous - I'm glad you got hear your fave choir. I do agree that Bryn is so cute. :)

Jana - It was nice to hear from you. Kendra was at POTM but she must have been behind someone or stepped out when the photo was taken. Bryce went to Youth Congress, too. He was in the singing competition and came in 2nd place.

  9. Linda- I wish I did have a video of this concert. It was fabulous! However, this is the Western District and no district functions can be video-taped.

Sis. Buxton - I can't imagine why you weren't there riding roller coasters! Guess they aren't as thrilling as driving your Jeep on narrow paths far up a mountain.
