Challenge for the New Year

Several years ago, I decided to read a chapter of Proverbs each day. (The book has 31 chapters, and it fits the schedule of a chapter a day.) There is so much wisdom for daily life in this book. With the new year approaching, I was thinking of the world, the hate, and divisive spirit that surrounds us and wondered what if everyone would daily read I Corinthians 13? You know, the chapter about love. Just maybe it would make the world a better place. It doesn't matter what version - King James, The Message, ESV, The Living Bible.....just read it. Everyday. Go to biblegateway.com where you can find so many versions you could read a different one each day for more than two months.

Here is an excerpt from one of my favorite translations (The Living Bible): "Love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never haughty or selfish or rude. Love does not demand its own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong. It is never glad about injustice, but rejoices whenever truth wins out. If you love someone, you will be loyal to him no matter what the cost. You will always believe in him, always expect the best of him, and always stand your ground in defending him." (Verses 4-7)
I challenge you to try it. Read this chapter each day of 2022 and see how it affects you and those around you.
