Say A Prayer for Me

You all know I do not like being a bearer of bad news or guilty of whining, but I have had a rough day and just wish you all would say a prayer for me. Thursday, I spent the day cleaning house, setting the dining room table, and preparing for a happy occasion. Bryce will be 21 years old on Mother's Day and I wanted to have a party for him Saturday night. When he was a little boy, I would ask him each year what he wanted for his birthday and his response would always be to have his friends over to play. Now that he is 21, not much has changed. This year, he requested his Dad to grill Halibut, have everyone sit around the pool and enjoy the sound of the waterfall, and afterwards have all his friends play a game of basketball. I was feeling quite excited while preparing this event, and then, "Oh, NOOOOOO!!" When my husband put his feet on the floor at 6 a.m. this morning, his toes felt wet, mushy carpet. Apparently, one of the kids had used the restroom (upstairs) before bed, clogged the toilet, and the toilet continued to run. By morning, our entire house was flooded. The ceiling in the kitchen, dining room, pantry, laundry room, and the garage had caved in and we had about 4 inches of water downstairs. The first portion of ceiling to fall was immediately above my computer which was open and wet. Our entire house now requires replaced flooring upstairs and downstairs. Even my closet was soaked. To say it is a mess, is putting it mildly. ServiceMaster brought over 40 boxes to help move things out of the house. I have no idea where to find anything! Needless to say, the birthday bash must be put on hold. My nerves are frazzled, my legs are shaking, and I am utterly exhausted. Please say a prayer for me and our household. If I don't have much to post for the next few days, I am sure you will understand. I love you, my blogging friends.

  3. Mark and Helen - thanks for your prayers. I have faith they will help strenghten me. There are huge commercial blowers in out house right now to help dry everything. We cannot stay there until the blowers are out, and that will be about five days. I feel so overwhelmed - I don't know where to start in picking up.

  5. Gene - thanks. I have had to remind myself to give thanks in all things. When I think of the horrible fires in So. Cal., I know it could have been so much worse. I guess this is one way to remodel the house. LOL

  9. Ronda - thanks for your prayers. Bryce won't get Halibut this week-end, but Brian has made reservations for Sunday at Bryce's favorite Italian eatery, Uricchio's, in Bakersfield. He will have to settle for Sand Dabs. (That is his favorite meal there.) There isn't anything we can do at the house until the blowers are out, so we are just hanging out at Holiday Inn. :)

  11. Jana: I haven't been on your blog in awhile. I'm so very sorry to hear about this. These things never happen at convenient times, do they? I remember the day before Jeremy's 12th birthday, my Dad died very suddenly. Plus, Mike was out of state on a business trip. We had to hurry and make plans to fly back to Chicago for the funeral. It was rough, but God brought us through it. I know He will for you all too. Happy birthday to Bryce. love & Prayers, Karen

  12. Karen - you are so right. It is never a good time for such things. It is strange how things happen. My Dad passed away a week after Bryce's 13th birthday. It was a sudden thing, too. Thankfully, we can abide in the shadow of the Almighty God and He brings us through our rough time. I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day and the presence of the Lord shines upon you. Love you.
