Age - It Happens
Since Brian's mishap, much has been said about age. In fact, I have teasingly called him a geriatric jock. Our dearest friends, Nathan and Charla Elms, have been making up "old" jokes and enjoying laughing about my husband. Brian has said he is giving up playing except for Vegas. (just kidding) Although many have said he is too old to be playing ball, I have been thinking about my view on age. Here's my philosophy - If you didn't know how old you were, how old would you be? Do we really have to have numbers? If so, I think I am only about 21. Well, in all honesty, I do have days I feel like 90. So, if you didn't know your age, what do you think it would be?

Hmmmmm, let's see. If I didn't know my actaul age I would be a different age everyday. Mom always said "You're only as old as you feel".
ReplyDeleteWhen I am ill and not feeling up to par, then those are the days I feel I could actually be 101. On the days that I am feeling good and energized, I feel my actual age (which, by the way, isn't old at all). Then on the days that I am feeling real good and hanging out with my best friend, I feel as though I could be in my teens. We do get so goofy and laugh so much, just like a couple of giggling teenage girls. But when I am with my grandkids, then the kid in me comes forth and I am a little child again, I would say between 4 & 6 (that is until I try to play games on the floor and go to get up, then that ol' 101 year old sticks up it's ugly head). Oh but it's worth it just to feel like a kid again, even if it is short lived.

Hi Jana, I think you have something here. We are as old as we feel. But we should remember that others are also. We are alfully young to be old. :-) "Old" jokes aren't so funny if you're 86 (chronologically) and feel even older the day you hear them, as a young 86-year-old friend once pointed out. She didn't think "senior moments" were funny at all.
ReplyDeleteJana, I agree with your philosophy on age. :-)
ReplyDeleteLOL! Today, I feel about 90.

I would say about 23. :-)
ReplyDeleteJolene - you crack me up! I don't care how old you are, I am just glad you are alive!!! :)
ReplyDeleteHelen - I think I agree with your 86 year old friend. If I was her age, I wouldn't appreciate "old" jokes either. The only thing, I think when I am that old I will still believe I am young. Just my body will argue the fact. :)
Mark - agreed. (shake hands)
Ronda - I am sorry to hear you had a bad day. :) I don't think you could possibly be a day over 25!
Deon - You could convince some people you are 23 - as good as you look. Especially when you are holding your lil, tiny, darling, baby.
I feel about 25...lol! Hey Sis Allard! Love you!! Really too bad about Bro Allard's arm! Wow, that must have been terribly painful...I bet you'll have a good time taking care of him! He'll have you running to and fro like crazy I imagine. hahaha! Tell Bryce I said hi! Love you lots and looking fwd to hanging out with you guys again sometime!
ReplyDeleteJanell - you feel 25?!? LOL How amazing! LOL By the way, your pic on your profile is cute. Brian has accepted some help from us, but he is so fiercely independent he can't hardly stand it. I will pass your greetings along. Thanks for dropping by.
ReplyDeleteWell when my kids are asleep I think I'm about 15, but when they're awake I think I'm about 60. Haha.
ReplyDeleteJana, I'd like to think I am still pretty young. Even though the years fly by, I am thankful that we age ever so gracefully! I am glad that those laugh lines don't just appear over night. LOL
ReplyDeleteMarise - motherhood has to be too exciting for you to feel old. :)
ReplyDeleteDebbie - you are just gorgeous and age moves really slow with you. You are forever young.
