Pets Are Family

On Wednesday, we once again went to The Pentecostals of Orange County to teach at their marriage seminar. Tomorrow I will blog a few of my comments on submission, but today I want to update you about Bella. On our way to Orange County, we went through the Inland Empire to make a hospital visit and Veronica came to meet us. (If you are new to my blog, Veronica is Bryce's girlfriend and Bella is the Lhasa Apso puppy Bryce gave Veronica for Christmas.) Veronica had Bella styling in a pink plaid dress with a pink bow in her hair. I am sure this dog thinks she is human. In fact, I told Veronica this dog looks like she is dressed for Youth Conference. I just couldn't resist adding a few pics to my blog. Just as Linda, Ronda, and Karla talk about pink and blue elephants, we have had a longstanding debate with my husband and Bryce. My husband would torment Bryce saying, "Pets are not family." Bryce and I would vehemently respond, "Yes, pets ARE family." Check out this picture with my husband letting Bella lay on his shoulder. Pets sure are family. Tell me about your pets!

  1. Sis. Allard,
I love the pictures of Bella. She is such a cute dog/family member. Aunt Margie recently got a poodle as she says it he's her baby. My mom and brother have a dog and according to Alexandria he might as well be family. When she talks about family he's usually included. Pets are family for sure!

  2. Awww, I can just imagine Alexandria playing with the family pet. She probably talks as much to the dog as to everyone else. She is such a beautiful baby. Thanks, Marise, for dropping by my blog. XO

  3. We are blessed with a lhasa apso too. Her name is Misty, and she just turned 4 on Monday. She is definitely family and spoiled rotten. She had a blast opening her 2 presents Monday night. It is hysterical to watch her! She rips the wrapping paper to shreds until she finally has her gift opened. She is my canine daughter.

  4. Ronda, I understand the tears. We had a tiny teacup poodle named Punkins. He was such a sweet dog. Not much bigger than a rat. We learned, however, that it is not "normal" to have a teacup size dog and they are very susceptible to illness.

We have all fallen in love with Bella. She has a darling personality and is as human as they get! LOL Pets are wonderful.

  5. Oh, Carol! I would love to meet Misty. You are going to have post some pictures of her. Bella is so spoiled already and she is only three months old. She gets in bed with Veronica and sleeps under the covers with only her head out on the pillow. Her personality is just darling.

  6. LOL!!! Helen, those nicknames made me think of all the nicknames I call my kids! They answer to "George," "Henry," "Georgina,"
"Henrietta..." Yes, Chester is family. I like Chettie the Moretti!

  7. As far as the family argument....here we go again! LOL! Pets are FAMILY! I met a lady once that called her dogs "fur-people"! I had to agree with her. My poodle Tasha was as close to being human as you could get. She understood everything we said and obeyed us. I always knew she loved us more than anything in the world. She was 13 yrs. old when she had to be put to sleep. It was awful. Yes, I cried!

  9. Hey,

I do have a couple of pictures of Misty on my blog now. Her birthday was last Monday, so I did a little post in honor of her royal highness!

  11. Linda - thanks for the compliments on Bella's dress. I do understand the sadness of losing a pet. The hardest one for me was a Great Dane named Winston. My parents had heard that sometimes dogs take diseases from people. I don't know if that is true or not, but when I was about 14 years old, my white blood count was very high and I was so sick. We started praying and as my blood count got better, Winston got sick. He was in the wet hospital for two weeks and finally had to be put down. The diagnosis on him was Leukemia. It may have been coincidence, but I always felt that dog took my sickness.

  12. Well, of course, pets are family! *smile* We have a kitty named Ellie but she has a zillion other little pet names...Eleanor (which is her full name) Elzie, Furball, Furface, Fat Kitty...all said very lovingly. We have a black lab named Rocky who we also call Rockstar, the Rockster, Wiggles, Sweet Boy....don't we just make fools of ourselves over these precious animals? What must they think of us sometimes? *smile*

  13. Jewel - LOL I have often wondered what our pets would say if they could talk! Thanks for dropping by.
