Just Ordinary People

The virtues which keep this world sweet and the faithfulness which keeps it steadfast are chiefly those of the average man.- -- W. Russell Bowie

How often do people suffer low self worth thinking only people above them can make a difference in the world or attain important positions in life? This quote truly brings to perspective that it is the common man/woman who makes up the character of the world we live in. There is a minority of "bad apples" that receive so much media attention we sometimes think our entire world is terrible when, in fact, the majority is ordinary people just like you and me who put the sugar in our communities. There is a song written by Danniebelle Hall that I would love to share with you the lyrics.

ORDINARY PEOPLE
Just ordinary people, God uses ordinary people,
He chooses people just like me and you,
Who are willing to do as He commands,
God uses people that will give Him all,
No matter how small your all may seem to you,
Because little becomes much as you place it in the Master's hand

Just like that little lad Who gave Jesus all he had,
How the multitude was fed with the fish and the loaves of bread,
What you have may not seem much,
But when you yield it to the touch,
Of the Master's loving hand, yes,
Then you'll understand how your life could never be the same

Just ordinary people,
My God uses plain, old, ordinary people,
He chooses people just like me and you,
Who are willing to do everything that He commands,
God uses people that will give Him all,
It doesn't matter,
It doesn't matter how small your all may seem to you,
Because little becomes much ,
As you place it in the Master's hand.

  1. I remember hearing the song years ago and really liking it. There is hope for all of us to make a difference in people's lives and be used in God's kingdom. Talent is nice, but it's not everything. As long as we make ourselves available to God, He will use us in the ways that He knows are best. Thanks for a great post.

  2. Beautiful post. I am glad that God still uses ordinary people. I like this: Because little becomes much ,
As you place it in the Master's hand.

  3. Oooooo...I remember that song! I like it a lot. Hmmmm...maybe I'll sing it in church. It'll go along with what our Pastor has been preaching lately - Evangelism! I even think I've got the album. :) Great post, Sis. Jana.

  4. I believe it was just an ordinary ol' fisherman that the Lord took to build His church upon. Matthew 16:18; "... That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

Great Post! I will remember where my talent came from and use it for His glory.

  5. I love that song, and I haven't heard it in a few years. A dear black brother that used to attend our church would sing it, and boy would he get annointed! I think about I Corinthians chapter 1 that says God uses the foolish things of this world to confound the wise. Most of the people in the bible that God used mightily were just ordinary people like you and me. Little is much when God is in it. Thank you for sharing this.
