Happy Birthday, Mom

Today, she is 82 years old. In a little while, we will pick her up and take her to dinner to celebrate her birthday. Yes, she does look good for her age. The above picture of her and Bryce, was taken six months ago on Mother's Day. In a nutshell, she is a shopaholic, classy, loves style, fiercely independent, a critic (don't take that wrong - she was my critic that helped me sing my best), loves to laugh, defends the underdog, great cook, a closet junkie but thinks she never eats sweets (there are always candy bars hidden somewhere), ornery, whispers LOUD, loves God, the best altar worker I know, a mother to two girls (I am the much younger sister LOL), grandma to five, and great-grandma to three. She denies bragging about her age, but loves to repeat all the stories of people who tell her she looks soooooo good. She is my mother and I love her.

  3. Sis Wilson is still such a great lady. We have always admired her. She was so sure Merv and I belonged together(One day befire we were sure).
Give her a huge hug and kiss from both of us.

  5. Ronda, Karen, Mervi & Virginia - I read your comments to my mom and she said thank you. Of course, I read one comment and she started saying how nice Ronda is and how bad she felt when she didn't speak to her husband until after he walked away and she realized it was him and she is going to call and say she feels so bad..... I finally got to read the second comment and she said, "Awe, she didn't have to say that. She is so precious......" Finally got the third comment read and she said, "She is right. I did tell her Mervi and her needed to be together. They are so nice and Mervi treats her like a queen....." You can probably hear her saying all these things. LOL She is something else!

  10. Shirley - I will pass your greeting on. She is quite a card.

Helen - If not the shopping, her cantankerousness. (Don't know if that's a word, but sure you'll get it.)

    Cheri - Mom loves you.

  11. If "cantankerousness" isn't a word, it should be! Helen

  14. I know, I late as usual, but I wanted to say, Happy Birthday Sis Wilson, my partner in crime. ;}

No I do not wear my hair up so you can't pull it and Yes, I do not sit next to you because we would definitely get called into the pastor's office. You talk too much. Sitting in front of you is bad enough. You notice I put all the blame on you, right?

I love you. You are like a mother to me and a friend like no other. You are the best.

  17. How sweet your tribute to your mother was. I'm sorry I missed the big day. Happy Belated Birthday Sis. Wilson. What a charming person. I love the "whispers loud" part. That is hilarious because I can see her being her feisty self. She is a great lady.

  18. Jolene - you and I both know she is a hoot! The worst is her whispering on Sunday mornings. Everybody hears her!

Carol - I can only hope I look half as good at her age. :)

VDL - You really know her if you understand the "whispers loud" part. If you read Jolene's comment, you can only imaging how much Jolene gets out of church sitting in front of my mom. LOL

  19. HAHAHA I am cracking up. You guys have to come up to Sac sometime when we go... and make sure to bring your mom. I want to sit in front of her in church. I miss you all. Von

  20. Von de Leigh - "Jolene! Did you hear SHE wants to sit in front of Sis. Wilson???!!! I wonder if she knows her pastor would probably ask her to move because of all the disturbance they would cause."

j/k The best part of sitting in front of her in church, is her LOUD whispered comments.

  21. Music Eloquence, If you must sit in front of Sis. Wilson, make sure you wear your hair up or she will get a strand and pull it. Believe me I know what I am talking about. God love her soul!

It is hard to keep a straight face sometimes when the pastor is preaching with some of her comments that she makes. One of these days I am gonna snort out loud and that will be the end of it all.

Are you SURE you want to sit in front of her?
