Christmas! That Magical Time of Year!

Another busy week-end, but it sure was fun. We had our annual Christmas dinner with our church family and this year we decided to have a table decorating contest. Above are some of the tables. I missed getting pics of some of the kids tables. "Christmas Dogs" was the theme of one group of little girls. Blake and one of his friends built a stable and set up a nativity scene. Friday night, several people arrived and the creations began. Bryce decided to make a chandelier above our table. He took a small Christmas tree, hung it upside down, covered it with lights, ornaments and finished with a large flashing star. It was actually quite cute. There were elegant tables, along with winter wonderland and a table that looked like a giant present topped with a variety of wooden houses. Saturday night was the dinner which, by the way, was delicious. Afterwards, there was singing by young and old interspersed with comedy. Of course, Brian and I sang our traditional song, "How I Wish Christmas Would Never End."

  2. Linda - It was fun. The first place winners won an Outback Steakhouse and Olive Garden gift certificates. Second and third received gift certificates to a restaurant and a small Starbucks gift card. I gave all the kids who participated in the decorating a small gift. This was our first year to do this and it went over really good.

  5. What fun. And Christmas is, after all, the Lenox candlesticks you finally have and a crumpled bell with a child's writing going uphill next to it. I love the memories each ornament holds as well as the overall effect. see how I love Christmas.

  10. Cheri - I hope your plans don't change and we do get to see you at Christmas time.

Von de Leigh - do you get to come home for Christmas? I know your parents are missing their grandbaby.

Helen - Oh, Christmas is so wonderful! Yes, I have the "pretties" sitting next to a crayon colored paper snowman. Kids are what make Christmas so much fun.

To all my other friends - thanks for dropping by. I wish you could have been here.

  13. Janell - the blue and silver table won 2nd place. It was even better than the picture because I took the pics before they had all the dishes set. They had huge snowflakes above the table. Bryce's chandelier was better in real life, too. The lights and star really drew attention. The photo was too light and you couldn't see the sparkle.
