Prayer Request

A few months ago one of my dear friends, who was raised in my church, returned from a mission in Irag. He has made the military his life-long career. Shortly after his return, he had excruciating pain in his back and was taken immediately into surgery for a herniated disc that was putting pressure on the nerve that feeds the legs and spine. He seemed to be recuperating fine, returned to base, and was getting ready to board ship. Suddenly, he had a turn for the worse and it appears he will be facing another surgery. He is a man who loves God and believes in the healing power of God Almighty. On Christmas Sunday, he was home for service but moving very slow. Our entire congregation prayed for him and we want a miracle. He is one of the nicest, most friendly, people you could ever meet. Regardless of circumstance or situation, I have never seen him without a smile. His name is Alex. Would you add him to your prayer list?
P.S. The pic is Brian and I with Alex on Christmas Sunday.

  1. Isn't wonderful to know that no matter what the need is we can go to God with it? We'll pray.

Happy New Year to you and your family. God bless you.

  4. We will be praying as well. Even in your picure, his smile is contagious. By the way, is this the Alex that went to camp as a young person?

  5. Sis. Hopper - Yes, that is Alex from long ago camp days. He has been stationed on the east coast for several years and we would only occasionally see him when he came to visit his mom. His mom has been a pillar in our church for nearly 50 years. After Alex returned from Irag, he moved back to the west coast and is stationed in San Diego. His surgery was in Bakersfield and we have got to see quite a bit of him lately. What they operated on has herniated again and he didn't do anything to cause it. He doesn't want to give up his career and certainly his physical abilities. Most people would never realize how much pain he is in because he always has a smile. I could tell he was really hurting because he was moving slowly. He is still the same, sweet Alex you knew at camp. His brother, Carlton, also attends our church when he is home. They are both great guys.

  7. Sis. Allard,
This post touch me personally because my husband just had the same surgery two weeks ago. Sadly, it looks like he is in the same condition as Alex. I will remember to hold Alex up in prayer every time I pray for my husband.

  9. Jana, When you speak with Alex, please let him know we are praying too. Alex and Carlton left such a wonderful impression from camp days. Polite, tremendous love for God, deep respect for the ministry, athletic (with style), and just plain kind to all. And such a noticeable love for you and Brian.

  10. Sis. Hopper - I will be sure to let Alex know you are praying for him. You are so right in your description of him and Carlton. They are some of the most respectful and polite people I know. I hope they know we love them as much as we feel their love towards us.
