We Want Your Suggestions

It was a long day, but we now have four songs recorded with the guidance of Marty Funderburk, their vocal producer. This took place at Daywind's A studio where many gospel greats have recorded. Gold and platinum CD's line the walls and the boys got to take a pic on the famous red couch in the green room. Their music producer has spent 28 years in radio work and would like the boys to consider a different name. He thinks WAY Quartet is too "vanilla" and is hoping for something more catchy. The producer offered, "Alliance," "Blood Reliant," and the boys are stumped. They aren't convinced they would like the word "blood" in the title. Would you like to offer us suggestions? We need help!

  1. I agree, no blood. What about Heartfelt Offerings or Heartfelt Praise? Just thoughts.

  2. Is it WAY Quartet or His WAY?

    Agree, no blood.

  3. What do the songs focus on most?

BTW, it looks like they are having a blast... in the midst of lots of hard work. Hope you're all getting rest too.

  4. Shirley - think fast. :)

Helen - I will add your suggestions to their list. Thanks.

Jana Mc - No to ditto.

Catherine - It is "no name" right now. We are trying to come up with something more edgy. Another new suggestion has been "Trace Evidence."

Von de Leigh - Their focus is on God. (Did you hear me say that tongue-in-cheek?) LOL
Let me know if you have any suggestions. They are doing some original material and the entire project will be quite a variety pack, style-wise.

  5. Jana, no need to post this comment. Just giving you some feedback. Trace Evidence sounds like a book and not a singing group. Just my thought. I'll ponder on a name and get back with you if it is not too late.

  6. Well, I don't mean to rock the boat, but you did ask for suggestions. I like the idea of having "blood" in the name.

Col 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Eph 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

    Eph 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

    1Pe 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
1Pe 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

What about "Blood Bought"? Just a thought.

  7. Debbie - I went ahead and posted your comment so I could respond. I would have e-mailed you, but I am having a problem with my outgoing mail. I can receive but not send. Brian is trying to work on it. I agree that Trace Evidence sounds like a book. If we were going to use any part of that, I would just say Trace. As in God is the pattern we are tracing our lives to be.

Carol - Your feedback is great. I agree that the blood is powerful and Bryce actually commented to the boys that they are nothing without the blood. I think the reason they are skeptical of putting it in the name is because of the current fad of skulls, bones, etc. They don't want the name to be misconstrued. Personally, I liked Blood Reliant and Blood Alliance. I will pass your suggestion on to the boys.

  8. Jana, here is my thought how about Chosen? Hmm, still thinking. :-)

  9. I'll throw one in. How about Ascend? I checked online and at the PPH and no group with that name came up. I'm trying to brain-storm!

  10. Is there some WAY they could keep WAY in the name? Maybe play off of that a little? They are - after all - the Western Apostolic Youth quartet! LOL! I don't know if there's something they could do with that. Just thinking out loud, I guess.

  11. Debbie and Karry - thanks for the suggestions. I will offer those to the boys. I like both of those but we will have to check to make sure they haven'y been used already.

Karla - really, I am feeling your vibe. Why does it have to be so complicated?!?!? I do understand the current market looks for things that catch attention, but how many groups have made it big and they just go by a family name or some _______ Quartet? You've got the Crabb Family, all kinds of first names and so and so.... The fact is, if they are really that good, they can sell being called WAY.

  12. Hey looks like you are having a blast!!! I wish i were there... hey what about "4 the Blood" or something with the number 4 and the blood.... just a suggestion...love ya!!

  13. That's exactly what I was thinking - keep the WAY somehow. Brainstorm... Chosen WAY? Blood's WAY?
Maybe I need to go to bed!

  14. How about God's WAY Quartet? They are trying to follow God's way and they are, as others have pointed out, THE Western Apostolic Youth Quartet! Or...hmmm....stumped again!
By the WAY, my earlier ditto was in response to Sis. Buxton's "thinking!" comment. LOL Not a suggestion of Ditto for their group name! :)

  15. I say they keep WAY and if they don't want it to mean Western Apostolic Youth Quartet it could mean "We Adore Yahweh". LOL Just kidding. Thought you might need a laugh by now. I remember those long recording sessions. We did it 4 times. Fun though. In all seriousness, I'm glad things are going well. If I think of a name I'll pass it along.

  16. Sher - several things have been brought up with the number 4 or things that mean 4. We even had God Quad. LOL

Jana Mc - I knew you were referring to Shirley, but I wanted to give you a bad time about it. I also teased music eloquence.

Catherine & Ronda - We are going to work on it more today. I would prefer it was kept WAY because they are already known by that and have bought the domain name for a website.

P.S. To everyone - WAY actually means Western All-State Youth. I know we all think it should be Apostolic since we are, but it is actually all-state. It started with WAY Choir.

  17. I think you should keep "WAY" in it somehow. I agree that since they are already known by that, they could keep it and maybe add to it. Although some are whacky, maybe these ideas can inspire something. 4WAY, The FreeWAY, All WAY, One WAY, God WAY, WAY priase, Way Worship, Wayman Group... haha (just having fun).

  18. I agree about keeping "Way" in it somehow since they are already known by that and there are so many options. You can leave it or add something. Here's some wacky ideas that may get their brain wheels turning: One WAY, 4Way, 4Way Praise and/or Worship, God Way, FreeWay, WayManGroup (lol)
If I think of anything wackier I'll definitely tell you. haha

  19. Von de Leigh - thanks for the feedback. It will be hard to change their identity if they completely delete "way" but I think it could be improvised. I kinda liked your thought - 4WAY.

  20. HMmmmm.....I agree, WAY should be kept in the title. HIZ WAY, Godz WAY... (it seems like "z" is thrown into some bands/titles now to make things catchy!) Just a suggestion. =)
    Good luck with that!!

  21. Janell - thanks for your input. We are considering all suggestions.

  22. Well, You know, I wouldn't change it at all because I really like it as it is. The W.A.Y Quartet. But that's me. I believe our guys are such great singers and annointed by God that it doesn't matter what they are titled, they are going to be a success.
