Hey, I'm A Survivor!

Sunday was a wonderful day of church followed by dinner with our ministry team, great fellowship, and then the short drive home. Before we reached the house, I told my husband, "My throat hurts." It was a sudden pain and within an hour, I had white infection in my throat. From previous experience, I knew instantly it was strep throat. The pain kept me from sleeping and as soon as the sun rose, I went to my doctor's office and was sent to urgent care. When I saw the urgent care doctor, I told her I needed a Penicillin shot and a round of oral Penicillin. She refused to give it to me saying she had to wait for the culture and sent me back home with a different antibiotic. The next morning, after another sleepless night, fever, pain, and six doses of the "other" antibiotic, my husband called my doctor and said, "She's coming in, be ready." When I arrived at my doctor's office, they took me in, gave me a Penicillin shot, and a prescription of 500 mg Penicillin four times a day. After four nights of fever and discomfort, I finally got relief and the infection disappeared. I'm sure if I would have been given Penicillin on the first trip to the doctor, I would not have developed such a severe case of strep. It was the most severe case I have ever had and and I would never wish it on anyone.
Thank you so much for your prayers, thoughts, and concern.
freeWAY was scheduled to sing in Stockton this past weekend at To The Chief Musician Music Conference. I wanted to go and knew I probably shouldn't, but my sister drove me up the day of the performance. The boys were fantastic! They have already been invited back for next year's conference. I slept late in the hotel bed the next morning and, although feeling weak, I feel much better. I'm a survivor! :)
P.S. As soon as someone downloads it, I will share the video of freeWAY singing a patriotic song.

  1. Glad you are back on your feet! Also you got to see Tammy, we are kind of spoiled having her around here. Pastor Trout (her father-n-law) has Anthony and Tammy come over here every few weeks to sing and preach.

  3. So glad to hear you are finally well, Jana. I know you live and enjoy a very active life, but sometimes we just have to stop and get well. Glad you're a survivor. Helen

  4. Kevin - it was a really long week for me and I think I pushed myself a little too much. Even so, I feel much better. Tammy got to hear freeWAY and Bryce gave her a CD. You are so blessed to have Tammy's dynamic voice on the East Coast.

Karen - yes, it was an ordeal but I do feel much better. I saw Kelly from a distance on Friday night and was hoping I would get to catch her after service. She did a great job directing her choir.

Helen - you are right about my life being so active, but this was definitely one time I got knocked down. I went to church this morning and plan to attend the evening service tonight. (KIDZ Choir is singing and Bryn has a solo part so I must see her.) I think this is pushing myself a little, but I plan to spend tomorrow in bed and try to catch up a little more rest. I appreciate your prayers and believe they helped me recover.

We listened to their cd on the way home from music conference friday night, and since I was the one who got stuck driving I had it on repeat the whole time for about 2 hours..I love it!

Oh & by the way, my sister recorded them singing "I Still Believe In America"..so if you want, you can take a look. It's not great, but ya, here's the link:

  7. Abigail - thanks for your kind words and the link. We bought the DVD in Stockton and they mixed the boys faces in and out of the video the boys had. It was really cool. Hopefully, we will get it uploaded to youtube.

Ronda - I am so thankful to be feeling better. I pushed myself a little too much this week-end but have no obligations except laundry (LOL) tomorrow so I think I will try to rest some more. The conference was great and I got to chat with your son for a few minutes.

  9. Abigail - we really liked how the DVD turned out, but the sound wasn't balanced. I think Tyler is going to try and put the DVD to their studio version of the song and then post it. It will then be incredibly good.

I am better but pushed myself a little too much this week-end. A couple more days of rest and I'll be good as new. LOL

  18. Catherine - Amen!

Carissa - I guess for some reason I thought you were no longer attending TRC and had started attending CLC.

Debbie - my wonderful, much older sister. LOL I figured she would read this comment and I had to rub it in again. People think we are twins when, in fact, she is seven years older and four inches taller. LOL I told her she looks like me 'cause I know I don't look as old as her. LOL My gorgeous niece Sara tagged along, too. We had a great time filled with a lot of laughs.
