A Sad Case

Below is a link to the complete article about 89 year old John Demjanjuk, a man accused of Nazi war crimes and is scheduled for deportation to Germany. He was sentenced to death in 1988 after being tried and convicted in Israel for war crimes but in 1993, the Israeli Supreme Court determined he was not the notorious Nazi death camp guard Ivan the Terrible and he was sent home to Seven Hills in suburban Cleveland. Now a frail, old man, he can't get up out of a chair on his own, walk on his own, nor get out of bed without gasping with pain. I believe there are wages to be paid for crimes committed, but how is it going to help anyone to send a feeble, weak man away from his family. In my opinion, this is a time we should extend forgiveness and let the old man die in peace. If he willingly participated in the crimes he is accused of, God will judge him accordingly. http://apnews.excite.com/article/20090401/D979U1002.html

  1. I agree, Jana. What good is served by deporting an old man? God will both judge and extend mercy at the appropriate times.

  2. Helen - After this many years, I think it is better to let old dogs lie. You are right about God extending judgment and mercy in His time.
