I love this quote! I think "embracing challenge" is a way to conquer the fear that comes with stepping out of the box. Hard to do, but looking at it through the eyes of adventure sure helps!
Successories.com has a kinetic interactive sculpture of a wire man thinking outside the box. It is an awesome conversational piece that Kent has on his desk. We have used it numerous times for youth, leadership, etc. You should check it out if you haven't seen it.
Jana, I keep looking at this quote and feeling like I should affirm it. But actually, I don't get it. To achieve something I must do what? What is "what has never been done"? By whom? I thought there was "nothing new under the sun." So how can I do what's never been done? Does it mean, what I haven't done?
I think the idea is that to accomplish something new, we must do something new. But that's not what the writer said. I give the quote a D+, and the idea you wanted it to convey an A. This is prime example of why passive voice is weak (and confusing.) (Sorry)
Helen - I think the actual quote is a little off, but I took it personal. Do something I have never done. If I have "never had" it is up to me to do something I have never done. Does that make it better? LOL
Great quote, it defines my way of approaching life.
I have never understood those that are content to live in the chains of tradition rather than taking the risk to see what God could do through them if they would only step out in faith.
Born in 1960, you can say she's a boomer. She's married to the love of her life, Brian, who is also her pastor, mom to three gorgeous kids, and wears many different "hats." Her personal passion is singing and she recorded her first CD which was released February 2007. You can hear clips at her website, www.janaallard.com.
