I Challenge You

If you have not often felt the joy of doing a kind act, you have neglected much, and most of all yourself.- A. Neilen

Are you up for a challenge? Here it goes - pick a day that you will determine to do at least three kind acts and then be willing to write a comment on how you felt after giving away kindness. It seems that life is too busy and many people are in too big of a rush to take time for their spouse, children, neighbor, or let alone a stranger. If you hurry past those around you, they are unaffected and you have neglected yourself. Remember, it is more blessed to give than to receive. I want to bless and be blessed.

P.S. I just arrived home from San Diego and feel I must get some rest. I will "fill you in" on the week-end events tomorrow.

  1. Leave your heart wide open and give it away (song by Gloria and Benji Gaither). Do unto others as you'd have done unto you! Great thought Jana.

  3. Well, I have to admit that I haven't made cookies in a while. So Saturday Night I decided to make Chocolate Chip (my husband's favorite) and Oatmeal (my son's favorite). You should have seen the look on their faces when they got home. I really should do this more often. Little things mean a lot.

  4. Hi, Ronda! It is funny you chose a food item. I just surprised Blake with his favorite the other night. Spaghetti! I hadn't made any in a long time and when he realized what I was cooking, he jumped up and down and cheered. Of course, I felt great by his enthusiastic response.

  5. I am always doing small things for my neighbors. Giving the kids a ride when they miss the bus, giving vegetables, making cookies, making food when they had a new baby, watching kids when mom was in the hospital, helping with homework, sharing books. The list could go on. I wasn't expecting no return on my giving. But, I broke my foot and the next day here comes the 11 yr girl with her non english mom and they cleaned my house. But I am glad I was blessed by all my giving. Gwen

  6. Gwen - that is awesome. I know you love to give to others and you have so many talents. You are a great cook, seamtress, and so much more, but most of all you are a great friend. I hope your foot heals real fast!!!

  7. I have been blessed by giving also, I love everyones children, I ask parents if I can take their kids, even if it is for an hour, they are always telling me that it is a nice feeling that they can have some time with each other, and can trust someone with their children, they are always willing to bless me by helping me with car trouble and such, I think the biggest blessing that I can receive is a hug from a sunday school student that I help teach, when they tell me I love you and have missed you, Miss Cheri, and that hug that means so much,
