My Town Is Just Right

As I left my house early on Christmas Eve, the above picture is the view I saw as I drove down the road. Snow had fallen in the mountains the night before and, when we see the foothills clearly, rain will soon come to our town. For all of the negative comments my little town receives, it actually has many positive points. We can see the beautiful foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, we are only an hour and half drive from the snow, two hours from the beach, two and half hours from Los Angeles, four hours from San Francisco, and the cost of living in our town is the probably the most economical in our state. In my little town, I can drive to the grocery store, purchase the item I forgot to complete dinner, and be back to my house in 10 minutes. My children attend a California Distinguished School and my oldest son can drive to the state university in 40 minutes. It makes me think of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. "This bed is too hard, this bed is too soft, this bed is just right..." Good and bad, I love my little town and it is "just right."

  1. Another thing about Delano is that they have an Apostolic church and the absolute GREATEST thing that Delano has going for it is that this church is blessed to have one of the greatest families I know as it's Pastoral team. There is not another city in the Central Valley that is as blessed as Delano because of the man of God that stands in the pulpit and preaches service in - service out, week in - week out.

    Love you guys,

    MP

  2. MP - Well, I do appreciate your kind words but you are much too generous with your compliment. BTW, we thoroughly enjoyed the days you, Deb, and Sheldon were here with us. Thank you for friendship.

  8. Well MP, I couldn't agree with you more. I just so happen to be one of the saints who is blessed to have this Pastoral team leading me and guiding me as they follow after Christ in this wonderful town of Delano.

Sis Allard, I also agree with you. I love my little town and it is "just right."

  10. Jana, It's good to hear someone that enjoys living where they do. So many times folks complain about there place of abode, too big, too small, etc. I must agree that when you can see the Sierra's the Valley is an incredible place. Love you!

  11. Jolene - Thanks for your sweet comment.

Anonymous - I'm suspecting this is Debbie. Yes, I agree. Double Frosting is the BOMB!

Ronda - Our little town suffers much criticism and I just feel determined to defend it. It can't be all bad because Apostolic Gospel Church is here. If this is where God wants me, I must be happy. And, the benefits I mentioned are true.

Bryn - I agree. Debbie's cake was fabulous.
