Repentance

Tonight my husband taught a fabulous lesson on repentance. He mentioned there are three aspects to repentance.
1. Intellectual Change (changing your mindset)
2. Emotional Change (no longer seeking wrong desires)
3. Voluntary Change of Goals (accepting God's will)

He also mentioned "Belief is proactive; repentance is reactive." (Reacting to your belief.) Another comment was, "Too many are sorry they got caught instead of being sorry for their sin." I couldn't write fast enough to keep up with all the good thoughts! I pray I will always bring forth fruit worthy of repentance. Luke 3:8

Brian, if you read this, thank you for the great lesson.

  2. What a beautiful (and useful) message. Beautiful being proactive; useful reactive (to the beauty of truth).

  4. I don't think we hear enough teaching on repentance. It sounds like your husband did a great job.

  5. It was a fabulous message indeed! I loved it! Went over all my notes today. He told it like it is plain and simple and backed it all up with scripture. I just love Wednesday nights because Bible Study is my favorite service. One can really get deep into the Word of God.

  6. (ophs, thought I'd already left a message-guess it didn't go through so here I go again). I agree with Carol, we don't hear the repentance message often enough. It sounds like your husband's said it all - and very well.

  7. Thank you, everyone, for your comments.

Helen - I think we could use your last line for a toast, "To the beauty of Truth."

Carol & Karen - I agree. It is not often we hear messages on repentance. We tend to hear more about forgiveness. Although forgiveness is vital to all of us, we must all experience times of repentance for we are mere humanity and we fail.

Jolene - I am like you. My fave service is always Bible Study.
