HYPOCRISY AT BEST

HYPOCRITE!!! He took it off in a hugely publicized, "It's what is in my heart; not on my lapel," and now that his campaign is threatened, he puts it back on. I am thoroughly disgusted with this man's hypocritical politics. He has vacillated his beliefs and frequently contradicts himself.

(AP)Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., wears a U.S. flag pin as he is introduced at a town hall-style meeting at Thorngate Ltd., in Cape Girardeau, Mo., Tuesday, May 13, 2008.

There was also the huge outrage over Obama refusing to cross his heart when the national anthem was played. Some people have rebuttled, "It is not against the law to refuse to cross your heart for the national anthem." They are wrong. It isn't just customary to put your hand over your heart when you hear the national anthem, it is part of the US Code (aka law): Title 36 Chapter 3 section 301. It reads this way:
(a) Designation.— The composition consisting of the words and music known as the Star-Spangled Banner is the national anthem. (b) Conduct During Playing.— During a rendition of the national anthem— (1) when the flag is displayed— (A) all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart; (B) men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold the headdress at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart; and (C) individuals in uniform should give the military salute at the first note of the anthem and maintain that position until the last note; and (2) when the flag is not displayed, all present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were displayed.

I refuse to vote for a man who blatantly disobeys the laws of this land and disrespects our flag!

  1. WOW. Am I a Christian the days I wear my cross pendant and not a Christian the days I don't? Am I hypocrite? I have vacillated my beliefs and frequently contradict myself. I don't think life's that simple.

Look at the crowd at a ball game, a NASCAR race. People have all kinds of postures during the playing (and slaying) O the National Anthem. Most of us have never heard of the US Code (aka law): Title 36 Chapter 3 section 301. This is one more example of Republican nit-picking of Obama.

Is four more years of Bush really the answer? And if so, what on earth was the question.

Jana, that comment says it all in my opinion.

  3. I agree, Jana. He that is faithful in little is faithful in much. Christians may vacillate as deadmule indicated. We are human and prone to err and have our times of trials and testings, and doubt may rear its ugly head, but I think a higher standard is expected of someone in a leadership position....especially if they are to lead this great country.

Even the Bible stated of spiritual leaders: "For a Bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not self willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre; But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just. holy, temperate; Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers (Titus 1:7-9) This is virtually repeated in 1 Tim 3:1-14 about bishops and deacons, both of whom are spiritual leaders. Obama's actions may be speaking louder than his words.

  4. Helen - I knew you would hate this post when I wrote it. No, I don't consider you any less of a Christian if you wear your cross pendant or not, BUT you have not made an issue of wearing your cross. At the beginning of his campaign, Obama made a public statement about not wearing a flag lapel pin because it's what's in his heart...blah, blah, blah. Then, when Hillary seemed to be getting a stronger footing, he is suddenly photographed wearing a flag lapel pin and again making public comments. He wore it not out of patriotism, but because he wanted votes. I could appreciate him much more if he had never made an issue out of it. He should have never made it into a public issue.

Concerning the National Anthem, I am appalled when I attend large events and there is such a display of disrespect. When I was growing up, EVERYBODY respected the flag and National Anthem. It didn't have anything to do with what party you were aligned. Democrat, Republican, Independent, ALL respected the USA, the National Anthem, and our flag. In my opinion, this blatant disrespect was/is the decline of this country. There is too much disrespect. Then, to have a presidential candidate disrespect our flag, National Anthem, and disobey the law, leaves me with no other option but to refuse to vote for him. I don't believe this has anything to do with Republican nit-picking because I have told you I support Hillary. My conscience just won't allow me to vote for Obama. I have lived in third world country and I love the USA. I am fiercely loyal to this country, the National Anthem, and our flag. Whoever holds the top position of leadership for this country should be more loyal than me.

I, too, am ready for the war to end and four more years of President Bush isn't the answer. What is the question? What is the answer? Your guess is as good as mine. LOL

  5. Jolene - agreed.

Mark - plain and simple. You are right.

Karen - I couldn't have said it better, "His actions are speaking louder than his words."

  6. Jana, I agree with you. The disrespect that the citezens of this country give to the flag and the national anthem has led to the decline of this country.

I know other countries will shoot if they saw this type of actions going on. We are a little more tolerant, Thank God.

But maybe we all need to be reminded and the least we can do is vote for a leader that respects our country.

  8. Carissa - our resident Democrat is opposing a Democratic candidate?!?! You have just proved that regardless of party affiliation common sense is attainable. Now, if we can get the rest of the Democratic world to believe we are not against the party but against a disloyal, USA disrespecting man seeking to be president of the USA.

  9. Kevin - if all Americans could live in a third world country for a year, they would quickly learn to love and respect America. You are right about some countries shooting for disrespect. I think tolerance can be a good thing, but America has become too tolerant.

  11. Rochelle - I know this a controversial post, but I am disappointed that so many people believe every bad word about Obama is false because most of it is true. He is so unpatriotic and has so many skeletons in his closet, it wouldn't surprise me if he was a terrorist.

  12. Sis Allard---haha. Obama has had SO many holes in his campaigning. Too many apologies and explanations for my taste. Now why cant the democratic party see that Hillary is CLEARLY the better pick?! I wish she were in the lead right now. Its true that I stand by the fact that I dont think another Republican in office is the "answer". But If obama becomes our demo candidate because its gonna be a rough race. Im fearful the Hillary supporters will become bitter and vote for McCain who is a "liberal Republican"... Which probably wouldn't be a bad thing out of the 2.

  13. Carissa - the news had said that many Hillary supporters will vote for McCain if she does not win the candidacy. However, if the final choice is Obama and McCain, I will vote for McCain.

  14. My husband is following the election much closer than I am, but I do know Obama has some scary skeletons in his closet. I know one thing, our answer is not in politics. It is in Him. Our selection this time around scares me!! This may be a controversial issue, but I think it's one that needs to be discussed. Thank you for braving the issue!

  15. Rochelle - thanks for your support. I have had some repercussions. I'm a big girl, I can take it. LOL
