Rebate Checks?

As you may have heard, the BUSH ADMINISTRATION said each of us would get a rebate check to stimulate the economy.
If we spend that money at Walmart, all the money will go to CHINA .
If we spend it on gasoline, it will go to the ARABS.
If we purchase a computer it will go to INDIA .
If we purchase fruits and vegetables it will go to MEXICO , HONDURAS , AND GUATEMALA.
If we purchase a good car, it will go to JAPAN .
If we purchase useless junk, it will go to TAIWAN .
None of it will help the American economy. We need to keep that money here in America !
The only way to keep that money here at home is to spend it at GARAGE SALES since those are the only businesses still American owned.

  2. Unless you buy a Macintosh... then the money would go to Cupertino. I guess some if their chips are manufactured overseas though.

  4. Haha this is funny. Its actually not true though because it goes towards are economies Net exports which DOES stimulate our economy and its GDP.

GDP = Consumption + Investment + Spending + Net Exports

We should be more concerned with the fact that they are HAVING to send rebates to stimulate the economy. The only time they would do that is if we are heading to a recession. Though at times we feel like we are already in 1, we arent. We havent been in 1 in a very long time. We've only be on the actual normal line of GDP NOT below it, but America is so used to being above the normal line that when we hit the actual line it feels like a recession--but its not.

  5. I only do garage sales once in a while. What about shopping at Goodwill? You think that money would stay here?

  6. Sign all checks and put them in the offering plate at your American church along with this note: "For home missions only!"

  8. Carissa - Calm down, chick, this was all in fun. LOL

Carol - Goodwill should qualify or else they need an audit.

Jen - glad you enjoyed the laugh.

Helen - I actually know some churches who encouraged their congregation to give their rebate checks, since they weren't expecting them anyway, and the people are doing just that. Now I wonder if they will send it to foreign missions?!? LOL

VondeLeigh - I thought it was cute and it made me chuckle, too.

  9. This was cool and true. I can't even remember what we spent our rebate on. I thought we were going to get $1200 and we only ended up getting $600. Oh well, I can't complain it was free.

  12. Josh - I think you had to have kids with a social security number to get $1200. We just got ours today.

Carissa - Aren't some professors the devil's brother/sister?!?!?! Bryce has had a couple of them that I'm sure were first kin to the devil. LOL

Mark - it was nice having lunch with you today. I only wish Debbie could have been with you. Glad things went well at Webbs. They are great people.
