Enjoying Home for the Holiday

This Memorial Day week-end is known for the most drunk driving accidents of the year. It is speculated these accidents happen because it is the beginning of warm weather, people are out bar-be-queing, and they become more intoxicated than they realize. They leave their celebration and wrecks happen. For this reason, we have always stayed home Memorial Day week-end choosing not to fight the massive traffic and risk being hit by a drunk driver. This year, there is another reason to stay home. Shouldn't our government intervene and get these gas prices lowered? This is ridiculous! I actually saw one station that was $5.25 for diesel but I couldn't get my camera out fast enough.

  1. Memorial Day is a great day for planting flowers. We went to Home Depot today and did a bit of damage, then came home to re-pot some root-bound herbs and free up some post for annuals. I bought two hanging baskets (pink begonias and mixed petunias) and flats of vinca (for the front entrance) and white begonias and pink vinca for pots on the deck. I have the ones on the front still to plant and two plants that need re-potting. Then , maybe buy a couple more flowers to plant. Actually it's a project we start on Memorial Day.

  3. We are spending our Memorial Day in San Francisco as we both has medical appointments starting tomorrow in the City. On the way up last Thursday, we saw diesel for $5.63 a gallon near Kings City (and can you believe it, it was at a truck stop).

  4. Helen - Our day has been spent with Brian painting in our bedroom, the kids playing, and now trying to help Blake finish a report to be turned in tomorrow. Just a boring, but relaxing day.

Karen - That is why everything at the grocery store has nearly doubled in price, too. It takes trucks to get it to the store and those truck drivers are being punished with this high price of diesel. It is a shame for our government to allow such gouging.

  5. Yes, Sis. Allard. We did enjoy our days off. We pulled our 5th wheel to Three Rivers and parked, listened to the water, walked, watched the rain. And ate.
